Have We Forgotten What It Means to Be Free?

Freedom- A word for which men and women have fought and died for centuries. A word that our own forefathers risked their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for. A word that brings joy to those who have it and hope to those who do not.

Have we lost its meaning? Do we truly know what it means to be free from tyranny and oppression? Do we know what it means to live absent of any fear of our Government? Do we know what it means to exist solely on our own ambition without interference from Big Brother? Do we know what it means to be charitable without coercion? Have we forgotten what our forefathers risked everything for and in some cases gave their lives for?

As the years go by, we teach our children less and less about American history. We change it and distort it. We do not allow them the passion and excitement that the meaning of Freedom and Liberty can bring to us. We do not tell them how fortunate they are to live in such a great nation. We do not have them learn and memorize famous speeches and quotes by those who have gone before us to make Freedom possible.

When we see Government encroaching on our Liberties and Freedoms, we do not resist. We do not defend our children from oppressive Government intervention into their lives. We stand idly by while politicians decide what is best for us, without even picking up the phone to tell them how we feel. We allow corruption to run rampant in the highest halls of our country and do nothing to stop it. We live in our little bubbles hoping that nothing will effect our little made-up lives. We say that if it does not directly effect us we do not care.

Meanwhile, we have less Liberties and less Freedom every single day. Our government takes more and more control over us with each bill that passes through Congress. Gone are the days that the gov't feared the people. Now the people fear their gov't. We deny it is happening. We hide in the shadows of what our Freedom used to be. We let our government tell us what food to eat, how to spend our money, what to teach our kids, how to discipline our kids, what we can and cannot do with our private property, what our Churches can and cannot say, and whether we can own firearms or not.

Is this what you want? Freedom slowly disappearing as tyranny closes in all around you like darkness around a dying candle?

No?

Then do something about it! Stop sitting back and letting someone else fight to defend your Freedom. Talk to your family and friends and neighbors. Become modern day Paul Revere's. Educate your children about Liberty. Call your Congressman and Senators and tell them that you want your Freedom back. Tell them that if they do not begin to represent you that you will do everything in your power to defeat them. Go to town hall meetings, school board meetings, and town counsel meetings and use your voice to stand up for what is right and just.

Above all else, Pray for our Country. Pray that God will continue to grant us mercy, even as we turn our back on him. Pray that He will continue to bless this Great Nation.
